Get cosy in front of a Christmas classic and tuck into a delicious, guilt-free snack: POPCORN!
The health benefits of this favourite movie night treat may surprise you. Loaded with fibre and heart-healthy polyphenols,1https://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/news/20120325/popcorn-packed-with-antioxidants homemade popcorn can be one of the healthiest snacks around – as long as the toppings are juuuuust right ; )
Here’s how we make it on the farm –
The popcorn
- 5 tbsp organic popcorn kernels
- 3 tbsp olive oil or coconut oil
- Optional sea salt to taste
Pour your chosen oil into a large saucepan on medium-high heat. Once heated, test the oil by adding 2-3 kernels. When these kernels pop, add the remaining kernels in an even layer. Cover your pan. The kernels should begin popping. Gently shake the pan to avoid any burning. Once the popping slows to several seconds between pops, remove the pan from the heat.
The toppings
Here’s the fun bit! Add sweet or savoury seasonings for extra yumminess –
Cinnamon and nutmeg
Dried rosemary and garlic powder
Dark chocolate (75% and above) and sea salt
Smoked paprika and chilli flakes
Lemon and lime zest
Nom, nom, nom!
